Local “rags to riches” group Spacifix will open Christina Aguilera’s two concerts in Auckland next week. The nine-member group is currently featured in the TV2 reality series “from Henderson to Hollywood” showing on Saturday mornings. The show tracks the group’s humble beginnings from Henderson right through to meetings with Motown Records in Los Angeles. One of the backers who discovered Spacifix, Auckland film producer, Ondrej Havas, said the negotiations for the Aguilera concerts took a month to complete. “There were a lot of technical issues to work through related to the venue and stage set-up. It was clear that Ms Aguilera’s management carefully considered their choice of opening act.” Mr Havas’s production company Omnicron, recently won film awards in Los Angeles which feature Spacifix. Two episodes of the “Henderson to Hollywood” series are also category finalists in the Air New Zealand screen awards to be held next week. ENDS
